Student Centre Staff raise money for the Belleville Firefighters Toy Drive
On Thursday, December 4, 2008, the Student Centre Staff collected donations at the Christmas Party to support Jodi Donovan’s annual toy drive in loving memory of her husband, Bill Donovan, to benefit the Belleville Firefighters Toy Drive.
Bill wanted to make sure every child had a new toy at Christmas. He passed away in 2004. Jodi keeps Bill's dream alive each year at Christmas.
With a desire to purchase as many toys as possible for Jodi’s Toy Drive, one Student Centre Staff member, Luke Simpson, walked around the Cafeteria and Student Centre during a lunch hour to collect pocket change students and staff were willing to spare. Residence staff also collected donations in Residence Commons.
Thanks to the generous donations made by staff and students, $130 worth of toys were purchased in support of Jodi’s mission to make Christmas a little brighter for underprivileged children in the Quinte area.
