Much of the Technology Fee students pay through tuition went towards this evergreening project. Mark Kirkpatrick, Director of Information Technology, explained the benefits of the upgrades for students and staff,
Evergreening desktop computers provides enhanced computing capability on a guaranteed refresh cycle. For example, today some labs have 5+ year old equipment that is functional but not ideal. Use of the IT Fee will guarantee that equipment is refreshed regularly and that each classroom will have advanced technology capabilities to ensure the best learning environment possible. As each classroom hits its refresh cycle, it will be equipped with the technology necessary to support any advanced/enhanced teaching and learning needs.
Other projects covered by the IT Fee this year included the installation of wireless across the entire campus.
