Requirements
The Student Centre is looking for students who are level-headed and at least 18 years of age. Students must also have:
- Excellent communication skills
- A patient attitude
- The ability to:
- work with others to resolve complaints in a positive manner
- handle stressful situations in a calm manner
- An Ontario Security Guard License. If you do not have this, information on the Ontario Security Guard License will be given at the interview.
Duties
- Ensure that the pub nights run smoothly, free of fights, annoyances or horseplay.
- Admit only members of the College community and their guests.
- Prohibit anyone who is either intoxicated or stoned from entering the Student Centre.
- Ensure that pub capacity is not exceeded.
- Set up the Student Centre, i.e. dance floor, and Student Centre Patio for evening pubs.
- Assist with the load in, when required, and load out of bands and equipment on pub nights.
- Assist with bringing the band to stage.
Hours
- The Student Centre recognizes that a student’s prime responsibility is to his/her studies. Pub nights run every Thursday night. Orientation Week for Student Centre Staff runs from Sunday, September 6 until Thursday, September 10.
- Anywhere from about 4 to 7 hours a week, except for Orientation Week which could be anywhere from about 20 to 35 hours.
Wage
- $9.50 per hour
