Student Government Office (located in the Student Centre)

I decided to run for the position because I want to make a big difference within the Student Government in my final year. I've been here 3 yrs so I know the College and what the job entails. I want to interact more with the student body and help make this year one they enjoy.

Tell us a bit about yourself and the experience you will bring to Student Government.

Hello, my name is Sarah Wells-Smith and this is my third year attending Loyalist College. I am currently enrolled in my second year as a Social Service Worker. I'm an outgoing, energetic person. I enjoy being involved with the school and all it has to offer. With this being my last year to make a big difference within the school, I look forward to taking on the role of Vice President.

What do you believe is the biggest issue the Student Government will need to address this year?

I think there are a variety of issues that I would like to see changed or looked at if I were a member of Student Government but the most important I would definitely like to see addressed is the encouragement of student involvement. Involvement in the College and College activities helps make students get to know one another and create memories they can carry with them even after leaving Loyalist.

If you had an opportunity to improve just one thing at Loyalist, what would it be?

If I could improve one thing at Loyalist I would help to improve the new difficulty that has arisen with parking at the school.

How would you address the following question if asked by a Loyalist student during the campaign.

“Why is it important to vote in student elections?”

So the person with the same views and stances as yourself wins. Every vote matters. I think it's important for everyone to have a voice.
