Meet A Loyalist Student
ERIN
Business Administration, Third Year
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, anything from sports, movies to relaxing and doing nothing.
Extracurricular Activities/How are you involved on campus?
I am involved with student life, representing my school (Student Government, Business/Bioscience Leader). I also play Varsity Soccer and work on campus.
My favourite things about Loyalist
I love Loyalist for their small class sizes. The opportunities that come with a small College are endless. I really enjoy the faculty and my peers. You can learn so much in a small community. I love the ability to make so many new friends in such a short period of time, and they make it extremely easy to get involved and succeed.
My Orientation experience
Orientation was a BLAST! I have had three orientation experiences, and every single one of the them has been an adventure. Orientation is a great way to wind down the summer, relax before school starts and meet some people. It is a great way to end the summer with beach day, patio party and BBQs.
Why I enjoy working on campus
The accessibility of working on campus is great. You are a student first and they recognize your dedication and importance to your studies. Your work schedule is not set in stone but your commitment to your place of employment at the College is important. I really enjoy working in the Admissions Office of the College, I work with some really great people, who guide and offer advice to you as a student. There are not many places of employment where you can gain continuous amounts of support.
My favourite Loyalist class/Most interesting class taken so far
My International Business class with Terry Hickey! It is not every day you get to see the Chinese Embassy and ride in the Loyalist Van.
My favourite Loyalist service
Career Centre and the drop in writing centre.
Why I enjoy getting involved with Student Government?
I enjoy the interaction with other students within my program and other programs at the College. You meet some really interesting individuals and learn so much from them. Being on Student Government is a lot of fun, you have the ability to get involved at the College. It gives you the opportunity to build upon your soft skills and grow as an individual.
Doc Walker
My favourite pub night
I have a few favourite pub nights - Doc Walker, Sue Johanson, Toga Party, Graffiti Night and the different themed Semi Formal nights. Every Thursday night is a different theme, different story!
What advice do you have to offer students on staying balanced between their academic responsibilities and social life?
It is ok to go out and have fun but at the same time you need to set some guidelines and keep organized. If you need help...ask! There are lots of people within the College that can set you on the right track and help you balance out your busy/conflicting schedules.

Why I recommend Loyalist to other students?
Loyalist is a great College! A small College sure does bring you endless opportunities. The faculty and staff of the College are wonderful, they will help you in any way possible. You certainly will gain everything you are looking for at Loyalist and much, much more.
Why I enjoy living in Residence?
Residence is easy, you don't have to worry about anything, everything is right there! The College, Library, Shark Tank Pub, your friends and the countless activities available to students either from Residence or Campus Recreation. Who could say no to a Residence potlock?
Semi-Formal
Why I chose Loyalist/program?
I grew up in the boondocks, not city oriented at all and Belleville was far enough away from home but close enough at the same time. Loyalist had the small class sizes that I was looking for and since I had no idea what I wanted to do, it seemed like a great place to take a general business course.
My favourite place to hang out on campus
I don't really have a favourite place to hang out on campus. There are lots of cool places to be, the Student Centre, Student Access Lab (SAL), the Gym/Fitness Centre or Residence Commons.
My favourite Loyalist professor
Tough question! To be honest, I don't have a favourite professor here at Loyalist. Any faculty I have had interaction with has left an unforgettable impression.
My post-graduate plans
I have no idea. There are so many opportunities out there, the task is to find the right fit and go with it.
